Addgene, Cambridge, MA
Addgene is a global, non-profit organization that archives and distributes plasmids, while also providing free molecular biology resources for the scientific community. They play a key role in helping scientists overcome logistical barriers to sharing and optimizing limited resources.
R E Dinneen was retained to design new facilities for the young company. Because the floor plan was “L” shaped, a main circulation street was designed with three major work groups organized around the spine. Bright colors and patterns provide way-finding and identify work areas through a combination of open spaces and enclosed areas for those needing more quiet. The café provides for group or individual lunches, informal lunches and company gatherings.
